It's such a perfect day

Seriously, I could not have asked for a better day. I was the queen, from the time I woke up. When I got to work a guy had left a banana on my desk with a note on it that said, "down payment for lunch next week." Someone else had left a basket of dark chocolate and a split of champagne. And there was a box of Godiva and a big beautiful pink necklace too. After work, Special K and I went to the bar and big old pervy Jack Sheldon (the guy who sang all the Schoolhouse Rock songs) kissed my hand, sang HB to me and did "Capitol Hill" when I asked him to.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, at 11:50, Special K dropped me off and an old Billy Joel song came on the radio. We sang through the whole thing and car danced.

And when I thought it couldn't get any better than that, as I traipsed through the courtyard, my neighbor Mia intercepted me -- this is like 11:56 p.m. -- and took me to my car, where she'd left a gift of a lovely bracelet and a card.

I'm so touched and overwhelmed that people did stuff like that. I don't think I'm nearly as nice on other people's birthdays. What I do know is this: My tribe means everything to me.
